PHILIP GLASS (b.1937): A Madrigal Opera - Cameo.A Symphonic Poem.

Description: Following Satyagraha in 1980, this opera has no libretto at all and is scored for soprano, mezzo, alto, tenor, baritone and bass with violin and viola. Dark, beautiful and melancholy, it was conceived as an abstract music theatre work, which any opera company can stage with any texts they like, meaning that each performance of it is necessarily a world premiere. In its first recording, it is performed by a Finnish opera company to a text (Cameo) by Finnish poet Lauri Otonkoski. No libretto. Ooppera Skaala.
