FRANZ KROMMER (1759-1831): 3 String Quartets, Op. 7.

Description: The second disc of Krommer quartets (he wrote 72 so there's plenty of material for more) contains works published in 1797. Like the later works (07L045) we offered five months ago, Haydn and Mozart are at the foundation while Krommer learned from Beethoven as well with the first and latter present in his often intensive motivic work. But the touches of fun and humor are Haydnesque. This set belongs to the Parisian quatuor concertante genre with prominent parts for both the first violin and for the cello. Authentic Quartet.
