Description: The plethora of appearances of the harp in Handel's compositions, whether actual music or in sung or spoken references, and the vital contemporary musical culture of Welsh harpists who were branching out from folk music into art music, made for a variety of transcriptions of the master's music, played here on both Welsh and, for the Bochsa and Anon., period Erard harps. Jones, harpist to the Prince of Wales, uses one authentic Handelian theme but the rest, claimed as coming from "unpublished manuscripts" are perhaps his own. Mara Galassi (Welsh triple harp, Erard harp), Giovanni Togni (organ, harpsichord, fortepiano).
