Description: The two suites (1902 and 1907) of pezzi are character pieces in which the young composer tries on various European salon styles, while the 1917 sonata is a large-scale work whose main concern is presenting a singing line for the violinist and portraying a wide variety of almost operatic emotion. The early (1897) G minor sonata is a student work with northern European influences from Franck to Brahms but, in its harmonic richness and with its expressive melodies, it's none the worse for that. 2 CDs for the price of 1.
