Notes for July 2013
Number of items in this month's catalogue: 5The end of a long-established independent distributor: After almost 47 years, Qualiton Imports has closed its doors. Its founder, Otto Quittner, died at the end of 2011 and his family has decided, under pressure of intense competition from other distributors leading to the loss of many of their important labels, as well as the continuing drop in classical sales all over the country, to wind things up as of the end of July (their last new release month was May). Most of their labels have found new distributors but it will take a month or two for back-catalogue stock to be fully available and for new releases to be offered. Thus, we have a slightly short catalogue this month due to the unavailability of around 25 labels. Things should pick up considerably next month.
