Description: Dresden’s 1918 sonata, the biggest work here, exudes French Impressionism and all three of Ben-Haim’s pieces synthesize Western and Middle Eastern elements. Goldschmidt’s late Fantasy stands apart from its fellows as a muted, melancholy pastorale which relies especially on the plangent, wistful side of the oboe’s personality. Rachel Talitman (harp), Pierre-Henri Xuereb (viola), Marcos Fregnani-Martins (flute), Adren Eble (oboe), Johannes Burghoff (cello).
