Description: This Italian-language version of the 1860 opera is in its expanded three-act version with a middle act having nothing to do with the original libretto (orgiastic celebrations of townspeople in Jupiter's temple). The original two-act version was in the Opéra Comique repertoire from 1876 to 1939, so this recording presumably offers opera historians and unusual repertoire collectors something even more unusual than you might think. 2 CDs.
