Description: The majority of these works were composed by Friml - well in advance of his days as a fabulously successful operetta composer - for the 1901-02 American tour on which he accompanied the violinist Jan KubelĂk. Thus, we have encore pieces close to salon style, the virtuoso pieces taking a back seat to gentle melancholy and chaste, flowing melody. Stephanie Chase (violin), Sara Davis Buechner (piano).
