Description: A label from Taiwan with a German river in its name presenting Italian composers and performers. Hmm. Mosesti was concertmaster at three of the RAI’s regional orchestras whose programming in the 1950s was more adventurous than you may have thought: Sinigaglia’s concerto is from 1899 and is firmly in the German late Romantic style (he especially venerated Brahms and studied with Dvorak, who opened the world of folk music to him) while the Triestine Illersberg was au courant with the world of Mahler and Respighi (a fellow student), the former’s harmonies evident in the slow movement and the latter’s in the final movement of his 1906 (rev. 1911) concerto. Good remastered sound, better in the 1959 Sinigaglia. Alfonso Mosesti (violin).
