Description: Although the majority of his operas were seria, this is only the second opera seria currently in the catalogue by Galuppi. Dating from 1741, it sets a Metastasio libretto which was popular with composers well into the 19th century and is notable for the innovation, power and originality of Galuppi's response to the highly dramatic text.
