JOSEPH JONGEN (1873-1953): Flute Sonata, Op. 77, WILLEM PIJPER (1894-1947): Flute Sonata, MARIO PILATI (1903-1938): Flute Sonata, MAURICE RAVEL (1875-1937): Violin Sonata No. 1, Op. posth.

Description: Jongen’s 1924 sonata is in a lush and lovely impressionistic style and Pilati is in a neo-classical/post-impressionist mode. But the real rarity is the 11-minute piece by Pijper whose interests in polyrhythm and bitonality add a sharper edge to its brand of neo-Classicism. Gergely Ittzés (flute), Péter Nagy (piano).
