Description: The remarkable work here is the 1751 Zerschmettert - a 36-minute work to celebrate the consecration of a church in Nienstedten. Telemann used these special occasion commissions to experiment and they are often strikingly modern and original as is the case here with many techniques being used which will come to the fore in his late, large-scale sacred oratorios fo the last 1750s and early 60s. The accompanying penitential cantatas probably date from Telemann's earlier, Frankfurt period. German-English texts. Dorothee Mields (soprano), Klaus Mertens (bass), Accademia Daniel; Shalev Ad-El.
