Description: Galindo’s four-minute piece is late Romantic salon music, opening for over a half-hour of folk-inspired material by Kuri-Aldana. His Trío Mexicano is almost a caricature of a sun-baked, small village ensemble sleepily making their way through a part of their unconscious musical heritage; Macuilxóchitl - “Song of Five Flowers” in the Aztec language - is inspired by fragments of indigenous music in its five-movement representation of flower types (the last one, the “Flower of the Gods” is Peyotl - just change the “l” for a vowel and you have an etymology). Trio Scherzando. Private label. No catalogue number.
