Description: These are both ballet scores which can double as flute concertos and date from between 2007 and 2010. The 42-minute, seven-section Pied Piper piece leads us through the popular fairy tale (with slight alterations) via programmatic movement headings in the rich and colorful style of a Hollywood film score. Ditto for the 27-minute take on the H.C. Andersen fairy-tale “The Nightingale” whose exotic colors plainly set the action in an Eastern court.
