Description: This recital of music by first(ish)-rank British composers for the recorder (or, as I like to think of it, "Satan's Whistle") includes what appears to be the first recording of Alan Bush's sonata-length sonatina from 1975. It may not make you love the recorder as much as, say, the violin, but it's a serious work along the lines of Berkeley's Concertino. None of the Cooke works is otherwise available on disc. Ross Winters, Adam Dopadlik, Michael Keen (recorders), Julian Jacobson (piano, harpsichord), Yuka Matsumoto (violin), Jessica Burroughs (cello).
