GASPARD FRITZ (1716-1783): Symphonies, Op. 6: No. 1 in B and No. 2 in C, Violin Concerto in E.

Description: A perfect compliment to cpo’s April 2013 release (04O026) which has the third, fifth and sixth symphonies from Fritz’ Op. 6 and, like that recording, also on period instruments, this new offering also includes a much earlier violin concerto (from before 1741 when Locatelli saw it and praised it highly) in late baroque style. Unlike the balance of the opus, the first two of these early Classical symphonies (published in Paris in the early 1770s) are in four movements with minuets.
