Description: Dating from 1959, it ostensibly depicts Christ's suffering on the cross but Fiser couldn't call it Crux, his original choice of title, since the Communist authorites were both atheistic and would probably suspect a hidden political message (which is plainly there). Thus the anodyne title. It's only just under 12 minutes long, tonal but often dissonant and makes you wish for a disc devoted to this fascinating but under-appreciated Czech composer. Leos Cepicky (violin), Ivan Klánsky (piano).
