Description: These are the fruits of German violinist-composer Pisendel's stay in Italy in 1716-17 - sonatas dedicated to him or given to him which he kept in Dresden. His own solo sonata is fiendishly difficult - a token of his skill as a soloist as well as composer. The little-known Montanari's sonata is different too: its giga finale is also for solo violin, dispensing with the continuo present in the rest of the work. La Serenissima; Adrian Chandler (violin).
