Description: Grignon's suites of short pieces are evocative of pastoral delights (with solo oboe, flute, clarinet and horn having a movement to themselves in the petites pastorales), nostalgic representations of landscapes both physical (peces breus) and psychological (cants magiars) and neo-baroque (the antiga suite). Sometimes English pastoralism comes to mind, sometimes a dash of Copland (!) and sometimes the pictorialism of a composer who wrote more than 16 film scores during his career. Toldrà was a close friend and his brief danses (with a prominent piano part) were a homage to Grignon. Orquestra de Cambra Terrassa 48; Adolf Pla (piano).
