JOHANN JOACHIM QUANTZ (1697-1773): Flute Sonatas Nos. 272-277 (QV. 1:93, :109, :145, :161, :18 & :42).
Catalogue Number: 08L028
Description: A rare opportunity to hear some of the most famous but never-heard (due to its never having been published but existing only in manuscript in archives) flute music of the 18th century. Unlike the vast majority of Quantz' 180-odd flute sonatas, these (probably composed around 1750) are in fast-slow-fast sequence and their bright and cheerful outer movements and lyrically songful slow ones are very attractive examples of the galant style. Verena Fischer (flute), Klaus-Dieter Brandt (cello), Léon Berben (harpsichord).
