Description: Last month we had a disc with a recording of Chaminade's second trio on it (06N053); now we have her first one, from six years earlier (1881), which begins with a Germanic contrapuntal density but Fauré is also not far away and its presto leggiero trio is a late 19th century updating of Mendelssohnian fairy-land. All in all, slightly lighter in touch than the passionate and energetic second trio. The little four-minute Mazurka of 1891 is an example of Chaminade's French-salon style elegance and esprit. Ann-Sofi Klingberg (piano), Annette Mannheimer (violin), Sara Wijk (cello).
