Description: Along with two of Myaskovsky's most-recorded works, this final (?) volume in the old Olympia licensing project contains the 25-minute tone-poem from 1912-13, Alastor. Inspired by a poem by Shelley about a poet who journeys widely on land and in spirit in search of "strange truths in undiscovered lands", it offers the young composer a broad canvas on which to demonstrate his vivid orchestral palette as well as a wider range of emotions than you might expect from this source. USSR State Symphony Orchestra; Evgeni Svetlanov.
