Description: The three fragments used by Norwegian pianist Evju to create a full-length, 22-minute concerto date from 1883. The work is the result of a 1997 Oslo Grieg Society open invitation to use them in any kind of new composition. Grieg lovers can decide how "authentic" it sounds but there is no anachronism involved, nothing which might not have been composed by someone alive when Grieg was alive. The Grainger/Grieg revisions of the evergreen "real" Grieg concerto (1907) is much faster and strips away places which have encouraged performers to self-indulge. Carl Petersson (piano), Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra; Kerry Stratton.
