Description: This pianist did three Alkan recordings for Marco Polo back in the early 90s and Alkan is still neglected enough to make this recital - even though it is a recital and consists of selections from larger cycles of pieces and not previously released in the U.S. - a welcome offering. The notorious "train music" piece, Le Chemin de Fer, is particularly odd, ridiculously difficult and mesmerizing. Laurent Martin (piano). 2003 release.
