Description: The big-boned, 26-minute Glazunov, from 1919-20, the worst winter of the Civil War, suggests a two-piano version of a never-composed orchestral work. The late Medtner pieces (1940 and 1945) are a Russian Round Dance in the spirit of a Chopin mazurka and Knight Errant - a 12-minute piece - whose intricately woven sonata form is reminiscent of the earlier Tragic Sonata, Op. 30. Ludmila Berlinskaya, Arthur Ancelle (pianos).
