Description: One of the more still-neglected late Classical Czech composers, Tomašek gets a boost with this first recording of any of his seven piano sonatas. These are the last three, dating from 1805 and 1806, and take their place alongside those of the suddenly popular Koželuch as well as the better-served Dussek; particularly memorable are the dance movements - minuets in the earlier two and a scherzo in the last - which may give some idea of what his three unrecorded symphonies might be like. Petra Matějová (fortepiano after Jacob Bertsche, c.1815).
