Description: The final volume of this Croatian composer's orchestal works contains both her first and last: the 1913 concerto is a fully-fledged virtuoso piece in the late Romantic tradition, three movements and 29 minutes and sounding not a little like Rachmaninov while the short (5:46) but trenchant and powerful, almost expressionistic overture comes from 1919. Along for the ride are two lush and evocative, almost Mahlerian orchestral songs from 1915 - these are each just under six minutes in length - and two, brighly colored, transparently orchestrated shafts of sunlight which, like the butterflies of their title, are there and gone in three minutes for both. German-English texts. Oliver Triendl (piano), Ingeborg Danz (alto), Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt; Howard Griffiths.
