Description: This 53-minute disc of music for wind band by Estonian composers comes in a DVD box in order to contain a weird-sized (4.125" x 6.5") booklet which provides a 30-page potted history of Estonia, Estonian composers, Estonian wind band composers, Estonian folk, rock and jazz musicians, a 19-page list of Estonian compositions for wind band, a three-page bibliography and, at the end, 5 pages of notes on the composers recorded here (one or two even have brief notes about the music). The performers are from Christopher Newport University in Virginia. Everything here is tonal, some folk-derived, and, at low mid-price, a real bargain for the mildly adventurous. CNU Wind Ensemble; Mark U. Reimer.
