CARL DITTERS VON DITTERSDORF (1739-1799): Symphonies in D, A and E Flat.

Description: Two late symphonies stand out on this new release - the 1782 work, from about the time of the Ovid symphonies, is a full-length work of 29 minutes full of Dittersdorf's marvellous sense for orchestral color while the symphony from 1789 (of 20 minutes length) is full of quirky melodies and odd turns of phrase of Haydnesque quality.
