Description: In England Kelly is known primarily for his church music and for his Improvisations on Christmas Carols (which was just recommended in the Dec. 2014 Gramophone "The Specialist's Guide to... for orchestral Christmas carols) but in this brand-new recording he proves himself to equally belong among the finer living composers of that special genre "British Light Music" and his Concertante Dances would not be out of place on the program of any orchestra, "light" or otherwise. From his evocation of Paris in the 1960s to the 2013 Christmas Celebration which can be taken as a sequel to the Improvisations, everything here will appeal to collectors of this still-robust genre. John Turner (recorder), Royal Ballet Sinfonia; Barry Wordsworth.
