Description: If you don’t remember Vol. 2’s appearance, it’s because that was almost 11 (yes, eleven) years ago (03J045)! Op. 70/2 and the quintet date from 1812-13 and both contains references to works by Beethoven:  the Tempest piano sonata in the first mvement of the quintet and the Op. 59 string quartet and the Spring violin sonata in the quartet. The Op. 126 work dates from Ries’ London years (1824) and is notable for its three- as opposed to four-movement structure and a certain concision in utterance but all three pieces are full of memorable themes and melodies. Schuppanzigh Quartet w/Raquel Massades (viola - Quintet).
