Description: A predominantly French recital, as is fitting since the oboe has been a very popular chamber music instrumental soloist in French music of the 20th century. Five of these works were written as test pieces for the Paris Conservatory oboe exam. Aside from lesser-known Frenchmen like Sancan, we also get to hear a Spaniard, Colomer, who moved to Paris and taught at the Conservatory, and a Japanese resident in the Netherlands and Canada whose 1960 Obsession seems to be an early example of minimalism. Bengt Rosengren (oboe), Kerstin Nylander, Matti Hirvonen (piano).
